Software Engineer

About Us

MACD is an IT engineering company with a worldwide customer base in the financial sector and has been successfully implementing IT projects for financial institutions for over 20 years.

With our products in the field of stock exchange trading - in particular trading services, exchange and broker connectivity - we are the market leader in Switzerland. More than 60 banks and exchanges across Europe rely on our services in the areas of software development, project management, consulting, hosting and support.

At our locations in England, Germany and Switzerland, around 40 IT engineers, business IT specialists and economists work on innovative and challenging solutions.

We develop our software in an agile way using KANBAN, XP and Continuous Delivery. Thus, every developer is involved in all development steps, from requirements analysis, design, implementation, testing and deployment.

YOUR SKILLSET

We are looking for enthusiastic coders with any of the following skill sets:

  • Enterprise Java using Glassfish and SpringBoot
  • C# and .NET including .NETCore
  • Node.js and JavaScript/TypeScript with experience in Vue.js or Angular

Our software is written and deployed on both Linux and Windows and your knowledge and skills in either of these operating systems will be helpful.

YOUR TASKS

In this challenging position as a software engineer you will make a significant contribution to the development of our successful products in the exchange trading environment.

In our development team you will analyse requirements with our project teams, work on solutions and develop them with the latest software tools. You will also support our quality control and IT Application Support Engineers in the Technical Account Management Team when delivering the solution to the customer. In this respect you will often communicate directly with our international customers.

In short your tasks will focus on the following aspects:

  • Collaboration in project teams
  • Analysis and Design
  • Coding and debugging
  • Software testing including test-automation
  • Second-Level Support, online and by telephone

We make good use of all of the following tools and methods, so if you have any of these skills that will be a bonus ...

  • Continuous Delivery Concepts
  • Proxmox and Virtualisation
  • Microservices, Kubernetes, Docker
  • Git, JUnit, Maven, Jenkins, Nexus
  • Agile Methods such as Kanban
  • FIX Protocol using QuickFix/J or QuickFix/N
  • Elastic Stack

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

  • You have a Bachelor's degree, a Master's degree or a comparable training in computer science.
  • You like to work in a team and are willing to gradually take on more responsibility.
  • You have good analytical skills and are keen to work in a structured way
  • You love learning new things and are looking for the challenge.
  • Spoken and written language skill in English and German.
